*All of these things are from MY person pregnancy experience. Every pregnancy is different, just as all of us are different. ALWAYS talk to your doctor for medical advice/questions. I am not a doctor, nor do I know your individual situation. All I know is my personal experience of being pregnant myself. I’m sharing my journey and the things that happened to me.
Well folks, here I am at 22 weeks! I’m only 19 weeks in the pic.
I still have 6 weeks left of this trimester, so I might have more to share as I near the end of it! Thus far, this is the best time of the pregnancy! These are the most important things that have happened this trimesters:
I feel like myself again! Once the 1st trimester was over, the energy came back! I’m doing dishes again, cleaning, working out…etc. Everywhere I was reading said that this trimester was a good one, and for me, I’ve found that to be true! So far, I haven’t experienced any crazy mood swings or anything of that nature. I’m thankful for that- as I’m sure my hubby is too!
Going back to the gym: I can honestly say that this is not back to normal. I still do not go as frequently as I’d like, or as often as I used to. I go about 3 times a week now. It’s not awesome, but on the days that I go to work, I’m on my feet walking around ALL day.
Feeling baby move: This is by FAR the coolest thing about being pregnant! I absolutely LOVE feeling the baby move! At first I didn’t know what the feeling was. It kind of feels like a gas bubble. Some people have said it feels like butterflies, but when I think of having butterflies in my stomach, I think of an excited feeling, not necessarily movements. So for me, it started out as feeling like gas. Haha. Eventually I felt the same feeling more often, and without passing gas, which I then realized was the baby moving! YAY! It’s really a cool thing. I already can see my stomach move when the baby kicks, and my husband can feel it from touching my belly. Its an amazing thing!
Finding out the gender: We went back and forth deciding if we were going to find out the gender or not… I didn’t want to know, but my husband DID want to know. Eventually I decided it was okay to find out and maybe the next child could be a surprise. We went to the doctor for our 20 week sonogram and found out that we are having a GIRL! :)) I’m so excited! I still think it would have been awesome to wait until the birth, but it’s really fun being able to say “her” and “she” and start buying some clothes!
Bending over: My tummy is getting bigger and bigger by the day, and it’s a little different bending over now. People still think I’m only 3 months along, but for me, having this much round tummy in front of me is s different! It takes some getting used to!
Worrying about Zika: Uggghhh mosquitoes are a pain already, but now worrying about the Zika virus is even more of a pain! We live in Florida, so this has been a real concern of mine. I try to stay inside, and I wear bug repellant. It’s just a bummer that I can’t enjoy the outdoors during the time when I feel the best.
Peeing more frequently: I do have to go pee all the time it seems! I knew this would happen eventually, but man… it happens a lot! I can’t even sit through a whole movie without having to get up and pee! Some nights I still only go once and other nights I’ll go twice. Not too bad yet, compared to some. I have friends who are pregnant and wake up more than 3 times a night! :/
Hip Pain: I started getting hip pain around week 14ish? And now it happens more frequently. Almost every night, I wake up with pain in my left hip. I’m not sure why. I don’t know if it’s from sleeping only on that hip or if the baby is adding pressure in that area. Maybe it’s from being on my feet all day? I have no clue, but it hurts! And yes, I sleep with a pillow in between my legs. From what I’ve noticed, it makes it even worse. It seems I have better luck putting my right leg straight. I think when I stack my legs with the pillow in between, it only adds more pressure to my left leg/hip.
Acne: My face has been doing AWESOME this whole pregnancy. This acne this just started this week! I’ve had maybe 3 pimples on my face for the last 5 months, and this week i’ve gotten 5! I know it could be worse (believe me, I’ve had acne before… I know that 5 pimples is like a miracle for some) but for this pregnancy, 5 is a lot! I’m hoping it’s just a phase and that it will go away soon!
Swelling: I officially feel like my legs are more swollen. Or maybe it’s because I haven’t been working out like I used to. I just look at them and think “ew” because they look puffy. Not like CRAZY puffy, but less muscle and tone than before.
Weight gain: I know for everyone this is different (like all things) but of course, I’ve gained weight. At our last appointment, 5 months, I gained a total of 9lbs. It is weird seeing the number on the scale go up so quickly! I’m sure that number will go up even faster now! Thus far, we are good on the stretch marks. None yet! I do have that line under my belly button though, although, I think that’s really common.
Well, I think that’s about all for the second trimester!! It’s getting so exciting! We haven’t really bought a lot of baby things yet (honestly, only a couple of cute outfits and a diaper bag!)
I’m sure we will be buying a lot more in the coming months. I can’t wait to meet her already! It’s amazing how you can love someone that isn’t even here yet!!!
